The successor model of BMW i8 can be called i12 and up to 680 horsepower

Rumors of a BMW sports car more powerful than the i8 have appeared for many years, most recently, many people believe that the new BMW supercar will be named i12.

Also according to sources, BMW i12 (temporarily called) will be strong to 680 horsepower and in just 3 years it will launch the market. The power of the i12 is said to come from a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine block for 340 hp combining 204 horsepower electric motors, for a total of 500 kW (680 hp), on par with a Panamera Turbo S E -Hybrid.

In addition, the battery installed on the BMW i12 is rumored to have a capacity of up to 135 kWh, which is a huge number, if so, it will give i12 a great range of operation.

BMW shared that the company did not intend to replace i8, but this may not be true when the German automaker announced the stunning Vision M Next concept concept more than a month ago.

As BMW once shared, for a 100% electric sports car, it will need a super large battery, which results in a very large vehicle weight, a strong electric sports car that can reach 600 horsepower will weigh about 2.1 to 2.2 tons. This is always a problem for BMW, and the company still needs more time to find the most reasonable solution.
